The congregation which worships at Ponte Sant'Angelo Methodist Church in Rome was officially inaugurated on Advent Sunday 1955. The building itself was originally attached to the church of San Celso next to it but was sold to the Italian Free Church in the 1870s, after Rome became a part of the newly united Italy.
We are a part of the Italian Waldension-Methodist Church and so related to the World Council of Churches through the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Italy. We are also a member of Churches Together in Rome, a fellowship of about a dozen English language congregations in Rome with various Protestant, Anglican and Catholic churches represented.
One of the special things about the congregation is that it is made up of people from many different countries and traditions. The contribution to our life and worship from all these traditions greatly enriches our fellowship together.
Although we are Methodists, you do not have to be a Methodist to join us for worship.
Everyone is welcome, whatever their background.
Join us in celebrating Harvest Sunday on October 27th.
During the service, we will collect food items to donate to the 'Breakfast Time' project of Chiesa Evangelica Metodista Roma, which supports unhoused neighbors near Roma Termini train station. The needed food items are milk, snacks, ground coffee, sugar, eggs, cheese, and canned tuna. We look forward to having you with us!
