The congregation which worships at Ponte Sant'Angelo Methodist Church in Rome was officially inaugurated on Advent Sunday 1955. The building itself was originally attached to the church of San Celso next to it but was sold to the Italian Free Church in the 1870s, after Rome became a part of the newly united Italy.
We are a part of the Italian Waldension-Methodist Church and so related to the World Council of Churches through the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Italy. We are also a member of Churches Together in Rome, a fellowship of about a dozen English language congregations in Rome with various Protestant, Anglican and Catholic churches represented.
One of the special things about the congregation is that it is made up of people from many different countries and traditions. The contribution to our life and worship from all these traditions greatly enriches our fellowship together.
Although we are Methodists, you do not have to be a Methodist to join us for worship.
Everyone is welcome, whatever their background.
Music Bridge returns to the Ponte Sant'Angelo Methodist Church on Friday, June 13th at 7:30 PM with the chamber choir I SOLISTI ROMA from the Korean Methodist Church in Rome.
We will celebrate the end of our 2024/2025 Concert Series Season with an evening honoring young talent, sharing in the beauty of music, and drawing inspiration from the mission of I Solisti Roma: to spread hope, joy, and peace through art, breaking through all linguistic and cultural barriers. I Solisti Roma - Korean opera singers trained in both Korea and Italy, some already performing on major Italian opera theaters - will guide us through a rich and varied repertoire spanning classical music, opera, and popular Italian and Korean pieces.
After the concert, join us for a festive reception with the artists. We look forward to seeing you!
